bootcamp fitness

The Sport and Social Club is proud to join Bulldog Bootcamp Co. in offering you Bootcamp Fitness! This 36 session OUTDOOR course is a comprehensive physical conditioning program. The program will combine the expertise and benefits of one-on-one personal fitness training with camaraderie and motivation of working in a group with others just like you! It's fitness the old fashioned way - with sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, running, and a whole lot of sweat!

The program is designed to build your intensity as your fitness level improves. The workouts are based on a combination of strength and cardiovascular exercises. Drill instructors keep things lively by integrating push-ups, pull-ups, squats and other strength builders with running, sprinting drills and plyometrics designed to increase speed and build cardiovascular endurance.  Not only is this the mark of a well-designed program, it also helps beat boredom that many people experience after committing to a long-term fitness regime.

Is it too late to sign up for June 2nd boot camp
I just heard about the boot camp this morning(6/02/08) and I'm wondering if it's too late to sign up today for the boot camp that starts today, June 2nd?

newbie
Hi, I am new to the sport and social club and I am planning on starting the bootcamp fitness next week, the only thing is that I won't be able to make the first two sessions, but I will be able to be there on Thursday. Is this an issue? Will I still be in the class even if I miss the first one? I don't see any reason why I will miss any other classes in the future and would love to give it a try!

Out of shape
Don't worry Laura, you won't be the only one out of shape. I can't run for 10 mins without wheezing and getting tired. I think this class is perfect for people like us.

Out of shape
Is this class for all levels of fitness abilities? I'm out of shape, but would like to join a group to help motive me to work out and this seems like what I'm looking for but I'm worried that I'd be the one lagging behind. Any advice?

Gear Storage
We always lock your belongings in the trainers car. We encourage you to leave anything in the car that you don't want to carry around with you. As for the weather, this is the perfect time of year to be exercising outdoors. Beach weather will be here before you know it. Will you be ready?

Re: places to put things
When I did this a couple of summers ago the instructors would lock everyone's key's/valuables in the trunk of their car before class...I don't know that this is guaranteed but it was an option for those with laptops at the time...

work stuff
I'm interested in taking the March session, but need to know where I could put my laptop and other work stuff. I'll be coming from straight for work and just can't leave my stuff in the park while I'm running around. Are there lockers or someplace to lock up our things?

3x a week?
Hey - I was wondering if this is three times a week? Or can you just go once or twice a week, until you "use up" the 36 sessions? If someone could get back to me on this - that would be great. Thanks!

Workout benefits
Hey! I am thinking abt taking this class in March... I am really taking this to lose weight... Any thoughts? Thanks!

Bootcamp Clothing
You want to make sure you wear shoes that are water resistant...but also allow you to move. There is a lot of running involved to keep warm and wearing a pair of Uggs will not help you. Everyone in the class seem to be comfortable wearing some form of running shoe without venting (wet, frozen feet are horrible!) You don't want to wear anything too heavy. Although the class takes place in cold weather you still sweat. The best thing to do is to dress in layers with the thinnest layer being closest to your body. Your best friends are waterproof gloves and a hat. Trust me! I can't stress wearing waterproof clothing enough...you will workout IN the snow. Crunches, push-ups, mountain climbers, squats...all done in the snow...sometimes even fairly deep drifts and on the ice. If you have more questions shoot me a message on here and I'll try to help you out. The average class size in the winter months is 10 people.

More questions
I'm thinking of starting in January - what type of clothing do you reccommend? Ski clothes? boots?
by Christie 12/10/07 2:38 pm
Bootcamp Fitness
All of the classes take place outdoors. I don't recommend taking this in the winter. The only time class is cancelled is when it's 10 degrees or colder outside. I'm taking the class now and it's really hard to do the workout in the snow and on the ice. (You do pushups and various exercises IN the snow!) It's an amazing class in regards to a workout but the weather doesn't like to cooperate in the winter months!
